ASDIP STEEL is a structural software that includes the design of base plates and anchorage to concrete. Now the design of anchor rods in ASDIP STEEL complies with the concrete code ACI 318-25. Following is a brief discussion of the implementation of this new feature in the software.
ACI 318-25 Has Been Implemented
To specify the design code, go to Design > Design Criteria > Codes. In addition to the previous editions of the ACI code, now the Base Plate and Anchorage module includes ACI 318-25 as an option for the concrete design code. Select this option and the design will fully comply with the ACI 318-25 provisions.
Please note that you can specify your own load factors or specify the CSA or ASCE 7 load combinations as desired. This offers a great flexibility to the design capabilities of the software.
Key Changes Overview
Following are the key changes in ACI 318-25 that affect ASDIP STEEL.
(ACI 17.8.1) Tension-Shear Interaction - The tension-shear interaction expression involves the use of the exponent 5/3 for concrete failure modes, and the exponent 2 for the steel failure modes. Interaction is checked for both concrete and steel failure modes independently as shown below.
Previous versions of the ACI provisions provided a trilinear expression for checking interaction based on the exponent 5/3, regardless of failure mode. This has been replaced by a less conservative approach, resulting in a more efficient anchorage design.
The Detailed tab shows a step-by-step set of detailed calculations, which include exposed formulas and references to the code. This information is very useful for a granular check of the calculations, both during the design process, and when the project is submitted for check approval.
