ASDIP Structural Software announces the release of ASDIP CONCRETE 6 engineering software. Design professionals utilize ASDIP CONCRETE software for the design of concrete members. The following are some of the most important features and benefits included in this version 6.
This new version includes six modules:
- Concrete Column Design – Uni-axial or bi-axial columns. Section can be either rectangular or circular. Slenderness effects are considered for sway and non-sway columns. Multiple reinforcing options. Graphical generation of the interaction diagram.
- Continuous Beam Design – Up to five spans and two cantilevers. End supports can be either fixed or pinned. Multiple load types and load cases. Design Manager to expedite the design. Graphical generation of shear and moment diagrams and beam elevation, as well as the strength diagrams.
- Concrete / Masonry Bearing Wall Design – Either concrete or masonry walls. Multiple gravity and lateral out-of-plane loads. Slenderness effects are considered. Either one- or two-story walls. Wall openings reinforcing design. Graphical generation of the interaction, axial, shear, and moment diagrams.
- One-Way Slab Design – Up to five spans and two cantilevers. Multiple load cases and combinations. Graphical generation of shear and moment diagrams and beam elevation, as well as the strength diagrams. Code requirements check.
- Shear Wall Design – ACI seismic provisions considered. Full design for axial, bending and shear. Graphical generation of the interaction diagram. Either pre-combined loads or nominal load cases. Complete design of boundary members. Ductile design, considering the maximum probable moment for shear design.
- Two-Way Slab Design – Up to five spans in each direction. Multiple load cases and combinations. Calculation of design moments and shears for column strip and middle strip. Graphical generation of the slab in plan view with reinforcement. Code requirements check.

In addition to a better layout design and dozens of improvements, the following are the most important new features and benefits in ASDIP CONCRETE 6:
Two-Way Slab Design
New module. ASDIP CONCRETE 6 includes the design of two-way slab systems. The slab type can be either, beam-supported slabs, flat plates without edge beams, flat plates with edge beams, or flat plates with fully restrained edges.
The program calculates the bending moments in the column strip and the middle strip per the ACI Direct Design Method. Reinforced concrete design of slabs and beams per ACI under the factored ASCE 7 load combinations.
The software checks the minimum slab thickness for the interior and edge panels, and it checks the punching shear requirements for flat plates. In addition, the program generates graphical views of the slab showing the reinforcement of the final design.

Single Cantilever Beams
The software now is able to model single isolated cantilever beams. This feature is useful is some cases, for example balconies and overheads design. In previous versions it was necessary to model the cantilever as part of a continuous beam.

ASCE 7-22 Load Combinations
ASDIP CONCRETE now includes the ASCE 7-22 load combinations, in addition to the options available in the previous version.
Takeaway
ASDIP CONCRETE 6 has been released. It includes the design of Concrete Columns, Concrete Beams (with or without Torsion), Concrete/Masonry Bearing Walls, One-Way Slabs, Shear Walls, and Two-Way Slabs along with dozens of improvements. The design of such structures may be completed and optimized in minutes.
