excel-import-to-asdip

ASDIP FOUNDATION is a structural engineering software for design of footings. It includes a new feature to import the footing reactions from Excel, which allows to design all the footings of a building using ASDIP FOUNDATION, regardless of the analysis software that generated the reactions.

In addition, the software is now able to generate the Foundation Plan with all the geometric information, and then it can print out this plan. Finally, the software can generate a Footing Schedule. This post is a brief overview of these new features, and how to use them to complete the design in less time and boost your productivity.

Importing Footing Reactions from Excel

ASDIP FOUNDATION is now able to import the footing reactions directly from an Excel spreadsheet previously prepared for this purpose. The first step is to download the Excel template, which shows exactly where to enter the required information.

Copy the required information from your analysis software and paste it into your Excel spreadsheet. The template has two additional tabs with an example, so it is easy to follow the process to enter the information in the required format.

Then ASDIP FOUNDATION will be able to read this information. Once the loads have been imported, the full set of footings will show in the Project Manager of ASDIP FOUNDATION, as shown below. From here, you can double click on any of the footings to open the calculations of that footing, change the size, materials, reinforcement, etc.

Footing Batch Design Manager

Instead of designing each footing one by one, the Batch Design Manager is a tool that performs a preliminary design of a group of footings based on the loading conditions and your preferred bar sizes. Once the preliminary design is completed, the user can get access to the calculations of any specific footing in the batch and easily fine-tune the design with minimal effort.

Generating the Foundation Plan

ASDIP FOUNDATION can generate a Foundation Plan, which is a graphical representation of the location of all the footings of the building in plan view, showing the dimensions between column lines. This will provide a quick reference of the footing names specified during the analysis of the building and the coordinates of the footings. ASDIP can generate this Foundation Plan for you, potentially saving you hours of your time.

Generating the Footing Schedule

In addition, ASDIP FOUNDATION can generate a Footing Schedule, which is a table with the design information of all the footing of the building. This table can be exported to Excel, and then it can be pasted to your construction drawings.

Takeaway

ASDIP FOUNDATION now has the ability to import footing reactions from an Excel spreadsheet. It also includes the Batch Design Manager, which will produce a preliminary design of all the spread footings in a building. In addition, it can generate a Foundation Plan. Lastly, it can generate a Footing Schedule and Export to Excel.
