Multiple-ply Sawn Lumber Beams

Now it is possible to model 2-ply and 3-ply sawn lumber beam sections in ASDIP WOOD. The Geometry tab includes a drop-down box to select the number of plies, being 1-ply the default. When a ply value is selected, the program automatically calculates the section properties of the assembly and updates the results, as shown below.
Note that this feature is only applicable to sawn lumber sections specified from the database, not to user-defined sections. The program shows a load table intended to help with the design of the fasteners at the connection between the beam plies. Similar published tables and references can be found easily on the internet.

Takeaway
ASDIP WOOD now includes a new feature for the design of multiple-ply sawn lumber beam sections. The user-friendly and intuitive interface allows modeling these sections and complete the design in minutes with the use of the software.
